Urban Splash Newsplash - March 2024
Welcome to our March edition of Newsplash – a round-up of all things Urban Splash.
In this month’s issue, we look at future plans for Park Hill in Sheffield and Orrest Head Farm in Windermere – places in which we’re out meeting the local community as we share our vision. We also share details of the new homes being created at Royal William Yard in Plymouth; there’s news of job opportunities in our team, and we’re off to MIPIM in France. Read on to find out more.
Unveiling our plans for the next phase at Park Hill
Thank you to everyone who joined our consultation event at Park Hill in Sheffield this past week. The event gave us a chance to show our vision for the next phase of the Grade II Listed building – encompassing new green space for the local community, and 105 apartments, duplexes and townhouses – some of them affordable. We’ll also create 2,000 sq ft of ground floor commercial space – a platform for independent, local businesses that will add to the already vibrant and diverse Park Hill ecosystem.
Our first public consultation in Windermere
We hosted a public consultation at Orrest Head Farm in Windermere on 5 March, unveiling our initial plans for the areas around the site – including a new pedestrian route, enhanced cycle connections, and highways improvements. It marks the first phase of our development following our selection by the National Trust as their preferred developer for the site – a pivotal component of the Lake District National Park Authority's Windermere Gateway project which will bolster the future residential and employment landscape in Windermere.
A first look at the latest additions to Royal William Yard
Royal William Yard is our award-winning, waterfront community in Plymouth. For almost two decades we’ve transformed this collection of Listed former Naval buildings into new spaces in which people can live, work and play – and now, there’s another chance to live here. These brand-new pictures show the transformation of New Cooperage, where our friends Poppy Developments are creating 24 townhouses overlooking a shared courtyard and private gardens.
Come join US
Calling all original thinkers, rebels at heart, and natural collaborators. We’re on the hunt for new colleagues to come and join our team. Our Commercial team are seeking a RICS-qualified Lettings Surveyor, someone with an appetite to market our space to prospective occupiers across the country, negotiating with customers and closing deals that welcomes new businesses into our portfolio. We’re also on the lookout for a Content Creator to join our brand team.
We’re heading to MIPIM!
The world’s property community will gather in Cannes in the South of France next week, exchanging ideas and sharing best practices to help shape the future of the built environment.. A host of Urban Splash colleagues will be at the event and we’d love to meet you for a coffee and a chat; just email Suzie Scott to arrange.
Meet... The Climbing Hangar
The Climbing Hangar is a great facility at Matchworks in South Liverpool – and the venue’s just got even bigger after the team took more space at the building. Climbing Hangar was founded by Ged MacDomhnaill who “just wanted a place to go climbing with friends”. Fast forward 12 years and it’s recognised as one of the fastest-growing indoor rock climbing chains in the UK. Find out more about the brand and its growth on the link below.
A new chapter for Factory International
Our founder Tom Bloxham MBE has stepped down as chair of Factory International following a near-20-year tenure at the organisation behind the biennial Manchester International Festival (MIF) and Manchester’s new arts venue Aviva Studios. Tom has helped the organisation evolve into an internationally-renowned cultural institution that’s attracted world-class artists to Manchester – from Marina Abramović, to Damon Albarn, to Björk, to Idris Elba and Yoko Ono. John McGrath of Factory International said Tom has been a “truly inspiring chair” adding: “We simply wouldn’t be here now without his leadership and spirit.”
